Position Summary
As a member of the Department's administrative senior leadership team, provides vision, oversight and a hands-on approach for the area of Recreation and Club Sports. Responsible for the implementation and enhancement of the strategic plan for campus Recreation Services and Club Sports. Develops and promotes a unifying recreation, club sports and life fitness program supporting students, staff and the campus community. Adheres to rules and regulations governing University, all conference affiliations, and the NCAA. Supervises the Recreation and Club Sports Coordinator position. Performs all duties in full support of the University's mission, understanding that the positive and effective execution of these duties are instrumental to the education of the University's students.
Hiring Range
Budgeted starting salary is $58,024 to $64,000, based on experience
Key Responsibilities
Directs the strategic planning process for Recreation Services and Club Sports. Develops and promotes a shared vision that drives departmental and University priorities for a unifying recreation, club sports and life fitness program supporting students, staff and the campus community. Creates and implements short-term and long-term plans consistent with the strategic plan of the department to ensure mission effectiveness.
Responsible for the overall management, administration, and marketing of campus wide recreation services, club sport programming, facilities, and programs. Promote and cultivate an environment that values inclusiveness and diversity.
Works with Recreation and Club Sport Coordinator to effectively manage and develop diverse and expansive Recreation and Club Sport programs including but not limited to: fitness class scheduling, sports club oversight, intramurals, education activities, and internal and external special events.
Directs budget and financial planning, goal setting, and management for the Recreation and Club Sports programing. Cultivates and maintains effective working relationships with various internal constituents including, but not limited to, Procurement, Financial Accounting Services, the SGA Office, Club Sport advisors, and the Budget Office.
Establishes and conducts reviews of operational and personnel policies/procedures consistent with University policies, industry best practices, and state and federal laws. Develops and implements operational processes to ensure safety of participants and address concerns of University liability.
Directs and manages the Recreation and Club Sports Coordinator, recreation staff, club sport liaisons including but not limited to, intramurals director and student workers.
Must be knowledgeable of and comply with NCAA regulations in support of the Athletics Department.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
