Club Coach, Women's Volleyball

Summary:
The primary responsibility of this position is to provide leadership as the Club Coach, Women's Volleyball. This position will provide leadership for the intercollegiate women's club volleyball program; to administer and promote the program within the University mission. Evening and weekend hours in addition to travel for recruiting, scouting, evaluating as well as team competitions is expected. Preparation of training/practice sessions, pregame organization, scouting reports, team travel arrangements, monitoring student-athlete academic performance, recruiting, professional communication in regard to the coaching staff and individual players.

Education/Experience:
Bachelors degree plus Collegiate level playing and/or coaching experience with a Commitment to Division III philosophy and experience with NCVF or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Valid driver license with good driving record: must be insurable.

Knowledge/Skills/Ability:
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills required and a strong commitment to excellence in teaching physical education.
  • Skill in public relations; training or instructing student-athletes; interpersonal communication.
  • Ability to manage a budget; analyze situations and develop solutions; provide leadership and direction.
  • Ability to objectively evaluate physical skills in the areas of physical potential and mental capability for intercollegiate athletics.
  • Working knowledge of NCVF rules of and the ability to teach critical skills, regulations, and competitive volleyball and training techniques.
  • Adheres to departmental policies and procedures, as well as rules and regulations of the University, and NCVF.
  • Ability to effectively communicate both within and outside the College including, but not limited to, student-athletes, parents, recruits, coaches, faculty, administrators, athletic training staff, and athletic department staff.
  • Ability to provide effective leadership to student athletes to encourage both successful academic development and competitive performance.
  • Travel is a requirement of this position.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule.

Physical Requirements:
Medium work: Exerting up to 40 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. Evening and weekend hours in all types of weather, with travel between campuses is necessary. Lifting required (i.e., set-up of scorers table, etc.), some manual labor is expected. Because of the location of athletic facilities on each campus and off campus, organizing and some transportation between facilities is expected.


Essential Functions:
  • Provide leadership for the team; establish coaching strategies and teaching methods to develop student-athletes skills and teamwork; analyze team performance and adjust strategies as needed.
  • Implement and maintain a quality recruiting program that serves the coaching staff of Stevenson University.
  • Manage the Womens Club Volleyball team to include: recruitment, scheduling, counseling, equipment inventory, office work, budget preparation, and athletics staff to ensure a quality volleyball program.
  • Work evenings and weekends where necessary to assist the Assistant Director, Campus Recreation in maintaining the athletic program and to assure that those programs are properly managed, coached, staffed and administered.
  • Be available to travel with the Womens Club Volleyball team and work nights, weekends, and holidays, as necessary.
  • Serve as a role model for the student-athletes by exhibiting ethical and professional conduct.
  • Oversee the daily administrative duties of the program.
  • May perform marketing or public relations duties to promote the program.
  • Cooperate with Stevenson University athletic personnel for efficient utilization of shared facilities.
  • Assist with fundraising opportunities and budget preparations.
